Huge blow for Arsenal as star midfielder is ruled out until Christmas

Arsenal midfielder, Santi Cazorla has confirmed that he will not return to action until December following another operation on his ankle.

Cazorla suffered an ankle injury in October, his last game being Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Ludogorets. Since then, Cazorla has undergone eight operations, the most recent being last Monday.

Initially, Cazorla was expected to return in November but had to have ankle surgery in December before again being operated on in early 2017, which practically ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Speaking in an interview with Cadena Ser, Cazorla confirmed that he hopes to return in December whilst also calling this season the worst of his career.

“I haven’t been given a timeframe [to return to action]. It’s very difficult to put a date, but I don’t think it will be before five months.”

“It’s been since October that I last played. I’ve undergone eight surgeries, the last one yesterday [Monday]. I hope that things go better.”

“I’ve had complications since November. I got a bacterial infection in surgery, my bone got infected, the wound would not close and I had a graft done.”
