Arsenal star ready to turn down other clubs and sign a new deal with the Gunners

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to reject Liverpool in order to sign a new contract to stay at Arsenal, according to John Cross.

Liverpool have been chasing the Arsenal midfielder the last few months with Jurgen Klopp desperate to lure him to Anfield. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current deal runs out next summer but after a succession of excellent performances, Arsenal have deemed him an essential part of the squad and will begin talks over a new, £100,000-a-week deal.

A few months ago, there seemed a reasonable chance that Liverpool could snatch the former Southampton academy graduate but having signed his own deal recently, Wenger is now keen to wrap up the Ox’s new contract within the next few weeks.
