Gunners enter race for £32.5m Bundesliga midfielder

Arsenal are set to battle Lazio for Turkey international, Hakan Calhanoglu, according to the Daily Mirror.

Bayer Leverkusen had a very disappointing season last for a squad that possesses so much talent. Following the sacking of manager, Roger Schmidt, Leverkusen finished 12th in the Bundesliga and have already lost star defender, Omer Toprak to Borussia Dortmund.

Turkish newspaper, Aksam, believes Calhanoglu is set to leave the club this summer, especially as the player has a £32.5 million release clause in his contract.

The free-kick specialist was banned for four months by FIFA following a breach in his contract whilst at Trabzonspor in 2001 but is still considered one of the better players in the Bundesliga.
