“Arsenal interest came as a shock” – Gunners target claims Wenger wants to sign him this summer

Sunderland youth star, Joel Asoro claims that Arsenal are keen on signing him this summer, while also admitting that the interest came as a shock. 

Asoro previously rejected a move to Manchester United in 2015 but is apparently, now on the verge of a move to Arsenal. The 18-year-old forward has been the focus of a £5 million bid from Arsenal, in a deal which would also include his team-mate Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka. 

The Sweden Under-21 star, only played nine minutes of Premier League football last season and is consequently shocked by Arsenal’s interest.

“People were a little shocked because I have played very little first-team football. I’ve heard a little bit, but if I think about it too much, it becomes ‘what if, what if.’ I try not to think about it too much.” 

“It came as a shock. It is clear clubs contact each other and stuff, but it’s my agent in charge of it. I try to focus on my football.”
