Arsenal to battle Chelsea for top Bundesliga defender

Arsenal will battle Chelsea for Dortmund’s star defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos according to Goal. 

Following a somewhat disappointing season with Dortmund, Sokratis has hinted that he’d be open to leaving the club this summer. Speaking to Funke Mediengruppe, Sokratis admitted that, at his age, time is running out for him to win a title. 

“If you’re young, you have a lot of time to win things, but I’m not young anymore, time is getting shorter and I really want to win a title.”

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in strengthening their backlines, and although Sokratis is not at the top of Conte’s list, Wenger remains keen on the Greek international.
