Jean-Michel Aulas: I don’t know if Lacazette wants to leave

Contrary to multiple reports of Arsenal submitting a bid for Lacazette, Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the club have not received any offers for the striker.

Reports broke early this afternoon that Arsenal had submitted a bid for the Lyon striker, with Aulas quoted as saying, “We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal”. Those reports, have now been quashed by Aulas himself.

Aulas confirmed that Lacazette has been told that he could leave the club but following a breakdown in his move to Atletico, Lyon have not received any offers while also adding that he not sure if Lacazette wants to leave.

“Alexandre Lacazette was told he could leave… we had negotiations with Atletico. Things did not work out. I don’t have any offers right now. I don’t know if he wants to leave.”

Not sure about the suitability of Lacazette to the CF role in Arsenal’s 3421 setup. For me the ideal CF needs to be strong aerially, to capitalise on crosses from our wing backs, be highly efficient in front of goal and have good off the ball movement. While Lacazette’s goal scoring record and off the ball movement is excellent, he’s quite weak aerially. Lukaku for me.
