Newcastle set to snap up former Arsenal youngster

Young defender, Stefan  O’Connor is set to Newcastle United on a free according to multiple reports.

The defender came through the ranks at Arsenal after joining from Crystal Palace at the age of 13. He has, however, struggled to progress since graduating from Arsenal’s Hale End Academy.

O’Connor spent loan spells at York City and Dutch side, MVV Maastricht but did not overly impress. Arsenal were reportedly considering offering the defender a new deal but could not come to an agreement before his contract expired this month. With that in mind, ESPN  reports that O’Connor has already joined up with Newcastle for pre-season training and will be offered a two-year deal by the club.

The former England Under-17 international made only one appearance for Arsenal (against Galatasaray) but is set for a surprisingly good career move, considering how his career has panned out so far.
