Deal close: Arsenal set to complete deal for youngster

Dan Crowley is on the brink of switching from Arsenal to  Dutch club, Willem II, according to reports in Holland.

The 19-year-old was signed from Aston Villa in 2014 after some impressive displays for the youth academy saw him attract the interest of the Arsenal scouts. The midfielder, who was once dubbed the “new Wilshere” has found opportunities hard to come by at Arsenal, however.

The young midfielder was loaned out to Oxford at the beginning of last season and made eleven appearances in League One. He scored three goals during his time there before he made a switch to Go Ahead Eagles of Holland’s Eredivisie for the remainder of the season, following rumours of character issues whilst at Oxford.

He made a good impression at Go Ahead Eagles, scoring twice and assisting twice in 16 appearances. He had been a target for Fulham and Hannover but Crowley has opted to remain in the Dutch league in a move to get regular football.

Subject to a medical, Crowley will sign a three-year contract with the Dutch side.
