Arsene Wenger opens up on Thomas Lemar pursuit
|Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club have given up all hope of landing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
The Frenchman had previously accepted that Lemar is a player that the club had followed for quite some time, however, it looks like Wenger has accepted defeat in the transfer tussle for the highly rated youngster.
“It’s dead… Monaco have closed the door definitely because there are ongoing cases with Mbappe and Fabinho. They lost Mendy, Silva and Bakayoko so Monaco are at the stage where they have closed the door.”
Arsenal have already secured the services of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer and were tipped to bring in Lemar who had a superb 2016-17 season. Wenger’s comments have ended all rumours about a possible transfer for now.
The boss also mentioned that Alexis is fit to play against Liverpool and his intention to tie down Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to a new deal. The Gunners wide man has been linked with a move to Chelsea before the transfer window slams shut.
