Chelsea vs Arsenal: Predicted XI

Arsenal face their nemesis notorious on Sunday as Wenger’s men look to put a stuttering campaign back on track after back to back victories.

There are so many variables to consider and so much to think about for Arsene Wenger before selecting his starting lineup for Sunday. The Gunners may not have to face Eden Hazard’s best form and this is the perfect opportunity to get back on track.

Here are the men, the boss will probably rely on for doing that.

GK- Petr Cech

The Czech stopper will be back at Stamford Bridge once again. This is where he has achieved so much and he would love to show that he still has real stuff in his locker.

RWB- Hector Bellerin

The Spaniard has not been very good so far. The way he has been deteriorating shows how Arsenal have malfunctioned as a unit. However, his speed will be vital for Arsenal in this tie. Scoring in the last game may have boosted his confidence and may be exactly what he needed this season.

RCB- Shkodran Mustafi

He has not been as good as he was at the start of last season and he needed a break. After a poor showing by Rob Holding, Wenger will probably go with the German enforcer at the right of his back three.

CB- Laurent Koscielny

Our on-field captain needs to keep playing more and more in order for us to have a stable back four this term. Arsenal have been rescued by his awareness many times this season and we need him to be back to his most solid self.

LCB- Nacho Monreal

He was pretty solid last night and he should keep his exact spot. He provides some much needed versatility and calmness to our back-line. Playing Chambers or Holding here may also be an option here, but Wenger will probably go with a more experienced head for a crunch tie like this.

LWB- Sead Kolasinac

We need him to be higher up the field than centre back. His physicality and pace are something Arsenal lack and extending his presence on the pitch should be a huge  boost for the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez.

CM- Granit Xhaka

Xhaka has a lot to prove. Hopefully, with the aid of the wing backs, he will become a much bigger threat to our opponents than before. He has to be calm on the ball and dictate play when Arsenal have possession.

Elneny will probably not start after having played on Thursday. So, Wenger will go for the Swiss midfielder. Watch out for the long rangers, Thibaut!

CM- Aaron Ramsey

We don’t know how his season will go, but he has to be a lot better than he was against Liverpool. Wenger will pick him, which is why he rested him against Cologne and given Jack Wilshere’s peresent state, he is our best bet to outdo the Chelsea midfield.

RF- Mesut Ozil

Another man who was benched against FC Koln. He should start the game. The jury is till out about him and he has to find a way to shut them up. With his creativity and Bellerin’s pace down the right, Arsenal should give Marcos Alonso a lot to think about.

He has to be on his toes and show more drive while playing. Poor work-rate against Chelsea is very hard on the team.

LF- Alexis Sanchez

He scored a scorcher this Thursday and we expect more from him. Arsene Wenger has to keep his head in the game for as long as he is here and use his quality to get results. He is back to full fitness now and he should cause a lot of problems at Chelsea’s right hand side.

ST- Alexandre Lacazette

Say what you want Ozil-Lacazette-Alexis is a front three that can drive Arsenal to glory. Lcazette scored a great goal against Bournemouth and his quality will be necessary to breach what is a very solid defence. He has to finish off any chance that he gets.
