Wenger set to complete deal for English midfielder

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to sign a new 4 year contract for the North London outfit after showing signs of a comeback to top quality football.

Wilshere is on the verge of getting a new contract.

Arsenal fans’ beloved number 10 has been tormented by injuries throughout his career and looked on the verge of leaving his boyhood club in the summer. However, Arsene Wenger managed to keep faith in the 25 year old and is slowly bringing him back to first team football. The Mirror report that the boss intends to tie down Wilshere to a longer contract after impressive performances in the UEFA Europa League and Carabao Cup. The player has publicly revealed his intention of staying on recently and a deal should be completed in January.

“Do I see myself staying? Of course I do… I have always been at Arsenal, I love this club.”, Wilshere was quoted as saying.

Given Arsenal’s recent issues with tying players down to new contracts, this is a very good sign. With the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding and Reiss Nelson looking to enter the first team, Arsenal are about to create a great crop of young, homegrown English players who would be led by the man once dubbed the future of the club.
