Arsenal vs Red Star Belgrade: Predicted XI

Arsenal continue their Europa League campaign in a game against Red Star Belgrade at the Emirates in midweek.

Arsene Wenger will be wary and will look to rest his main players before a couple of huge games in the Premier League that could define the club’s season. Arsenal have been rampant in Europe’s second tier and are firm favourites to go on and win the tournament. Here is the predicted lineup that will continue that journey.

GK- David Ospina

The Colombia shot stopper has done absolutely nothing to stake his claim as Arsenal’s number one man behind the sticks. Ospina was on the verge of leaving in the summer and as things satnd, he will be in a similar state when the transfer window reopens. Meanwhile he will be looking to catch the eye with some great performances, whenever he gets the chance.

RCB-Mathieu Debuchy

The out of favour defender has not lived up to the promise shown when he was signed from Newcastle United and is considered to be deadwood. Wenger will give him the chance to prove himself in a match where he can give chances to players like him.

CB- Mohamed Elneny

The Egyptian was started in an unfamiliar position in the Carabao Cup game and he may be forced to do that once again as Wenger will want to rest his first three defenders for the game against Manchester City. However he may go with Per Mertesacker, given that he will have a long rest during the international break.

LCB- Rob Holding

Arsenal fan favourite Rob Holding  is sure to get another gig here. He looked decent when he came on for Sead Kolasinac and is now a very important part of our team in non-league competitions.

RWB- Ainsley Maitland-Niles

AMN has been in the shadows for long and he will look to take his chances when he is made to go up against Belgrade. The youngster has been getting more exposure in the past few months and a good ninety minutes in front of the Emirates faithful will do him the world of good.

LWB- Reiss Nelson

Another start- probably in an unfamiliar position for the youngster is very much on the cards. Arsenal’s latest rising star has been given the opportunity to prove himself time and again so far- but one of these days, he will have to rake it.

CM- Francis Coquelin

The Frenchman’s career is stuttering at the moment and he does not really look like he is going to make the kind of impact on the big stage that we all thought he is capable of making. Arsene Wenger, loves the French midfielder and will give him the opportunity to prove himself.

CM- Joe Willock

Willock is another one of our rising stars and he has earned another chance in the starting lineup. He may get the chance to show his talent in a game that has much less riding on itself.

RW- Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere is about to return to full fitness and he will be give a run-in to prove that he is good to go for the Premier League. We still wait to see if he can make the cut for the North London derby.

LW- Alex Iwobi

The young Nigerian needs games like this to play freely and get into his stride. Wenger will most certainly rest Ozil and Sanchez for this match giving Iwobi the chance to enthuse the Emirtes with his footwork.

ST- Olivier Giroud

Giroud needs more games and he must deliver when he gets the chance. After winning the Puskas, he will be hungry for better performances in order to make it to Russia.
