Arsenal prepared to table £35m to lure Alexis Sanchez’s replacement

As the Alexis Sanchez saga rumbles on, a report published by the Express suggests that Arsenal have already lined up a replacement for the wantaway Chilean in Bordeaux’s Brazilian winger, Malcolm, to whom the Gunners are prepared to table a bid worth £35m to lure his services from the Ligue 1 club.

Arsenal travelled to the Vitality Stadium to take on AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, although Sanchez, 29, failed to make the match-day squad. Arsene Wenger confirmed that the diminutive attacker’s Emirates exit is imminent, with Manchester City and Manchester United both supposedly slogging it out for his influential presence on the pitch.

With this in mind, Wenger will have to move briskly if he’s to fill the void left by Sanchez upon his supposed departure, and Malcolm has indeed been earmarked as a perfect replacement.

The 20-year-old is highly regarded in his homeland and is a predominant starlet in ‘Seleção’s’ youth set-up, however though he’s capable of manning both flanks, the north-Londoners are somewhat sceptical that the visibly athletic winger could withstand the pressures which the Premier League exerts on a weekly basis, despite their alleged interest.

There’s also another potential stumbling block in the transfer link, as it’s understood that Bordeaux will demand £45m from the Gunners if they’re to part ways with Malcolm, although it’s common knowledge that Wenger is a savvy, shrewd operator in the transfer market.

In 21 appearances for  Les Girondins this term, Malcolm has netted 7 times and has provided his teammates with 5 assists, so if Arsenal are adamant in their pursuit, they’ll snag themselves a developing offensive outlet with time on his side, as well as a natural eye for the target.
