Ray Parlour believes only one Arsenal player is on Jack Wilshere’s ‘level’

Ray Parlour believes that Mesut Ozil is the only player which is on the same ‘level’ as Jack Wilshere and is adamant that the 26-year-old’s midfield colleagues aren’t complimenting the playmaker’s creative qualities on the ball, a lack of support which could ultimately hamper his chances of gaining a seat on England’s 2018 World Cup plane.

After failing to unlock his potential at the Gunners, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain jumped to Liverpool in the summer of 2017 and has integrated smoothly into Jurgen Klopp’s squad in the centre of the park after a turbulent start to his career at Anfield, and the ‘Romford Pele’ also alludes towards the prospect of the ex-Southampton man pipping Wilshere to a ‘Three Lions’ call-up under Gareth Southgate.

venting to talkSPORT, Arsenal’s esteemed former midfielder expressed: “The big question is, is Jack playing around players who are on his level at Arsenal?

“I’m not knocking Granit Xhaka or people like that. But now Oxlade-Chamberlain is playing in that Liverpool team he’s probably thinking, ‘I’m playing with top class players here’.

“I know you could say Mesut Ozil might be in the bracket, but Sanchez has obviously left now.”

Alexis Sanchez, before his switch to Manchester United in January, was the club’s undisputed talisman, however Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved the other way to the Emirates in a straight exchange deal for the Chilean ace, needs time to adapt to his new surroundings if he’s going to be considered as an asset.

“With Henrikh Mkhitaryan, we’ll have to wait and see if he’s good enough to play week-in week-out and he puts the performances in.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a valued competent to the Reds’ dominant engine room, and if 24-year-old continues to brandish his robust ingenuity on the pitch, he could still travel to the World Cup in Russia at Wilshere’s expense, presumably.

“I just think questions will be asked if Oxlade-Chamberlain improves that much and maybe pushes himself into the England squad under Jurgen Klopp.” He said.
