Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio understands that Arsenal have continued their pursuit of UC Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira, a vibrant 22-year-old midfielder who has a €25m release clause in his current contract at the Serie A outfit.
It’s thought that the Gunners have identified the Uruguayan as a worthy addition to their midfield regiment and that they are also willing to meet the required figure to snare him from the Blucerchiati, however it’s also believed that the north-Londoners, in order to stagger the payment over a number of years, could up their offer to €30m.
But, if the supposed negotiation process is to progress further, Arsenal will have to shake hands on a suitable personal agreement with Torreira and his representatives, as the developing holding midfielder’s agent’s demands are said to be sky-high and imperative.
Torreira joined Sampdoria in the summer of 2016 from Pescara and has flourished at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and has since earned 3 caps for Oscar Tabarez’s Uruguay.
Recognised in his nation’s 2018 World Cup squad, Torreira will be aiming to impress on the planet’s biggest stage to reaffirm and showcase his abundant, budding qualities to the masses, and particularly to those waiting in the wings to snap him up, of course.
