Emile Smith Rowe set to start against Brentford
|After a brief cameo against Vorskla in the Europa League last Thursday, Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe is set to start his first competitive senior game for the Gunners against Brentford in the Carabao Cup, according to Evening Standard.
An intricate left-winger, the 18-year-old caught Unai Emery’s eye during pre-season and the Spaniard swiftly drafted the England U18 international into his plans for the 2018-19 campaign.
A particularly troublesome tie against the Bees at the Emirates, Smith Rowe will be required to fashion imposing phases along the channels whilst stretching Brentford’s formation to offer his teammates vital space to operate both on and off the ball.
Smith Rowe is one of the latest promising products to have graduated from the north-Londoners’ coveted youth system in recent months, alongside fellow ‘Young Lion’ Eddie Nketiah in particular, and has since integrated into Emery’s first-team seamlessly.
Regarded as hot property at London Colney, Smith Rowe has the potential to make the left flank his own, and a dazzling display against the hardened Championship outfit on Wednesday evening could be the start of his eventual rise to the weekly matchday fold as an undisputed member.
