Arsenal to confirm their second summer signing today

Arsenal are reportedly set to announce their second summer signing with midfielder Dani Ceballos due to join them on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

The Spanish midfielder has been fancied to seal the temporary move to the Gunners since the beginning of the week, but of late, there have been doubts with Marco Asensio picking up a serious knee injury at Los Blancos.

However, according to Sport, that is unlikely to hamper the Gunners’ prospects of landing the Spaniard and the deal could be announced today after the necessary paperwork is finalised.

Meanwhile, the north London club have also agreed on a £27m deal to land William Saliba from Saint-Etienne and his transfer could likewise be announced in the next few hours, as per The Sun.

The French defender has been highly-rated since making his breakthrough for the Ligue 1 side last term, and the Gunners have managed to pounce on his signature ahead of arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Still, he won’t have an immediate impact on the Gunners first-team, considering he is expected to return to Saint-Etienne on loan for next season as part of the transfer agreement.

Elsewhere, Ceballos should provide such much-needed creativity from the centre of the park and it remains to be seen whether manager Unai Emery would be tempted to feature him in a more advanced role.

The Spaniard excelled for the Under-21 side at the European Championship this summer where he was regularly played in the number 10 position. He contributed two goals and two assists en route to the country’s title success.
