Some Arsenal supporters have reacted positively after learning that defender Rob Holding could return to first-team action with the club after the ongoing international break.

The 23-year-old has not participated for the Gunners first-team since the 2-2 draw against Manchester United in December last year, where he picked up a serious knee injury.

Holding has since made his recovery to participate for the Under-23s on a number of occasions and Football.London has now cited that the centre-back could make his return to first-team action following the current break in domestic football.

In response to this, the reaction has been overly positive and a section of the supporters are looking forward to the defender integrating into the plans of manager Unai Emery once more.

Holding was hugely impressive during the opening half of the 2018/19 season and the Gunners went unbeaten for 22 games across all competitions when the defender was involved between August and December last year.

The north London giants have not started the current season with much assurance in terms of the defensive displays and they have already conceded six goals from the opening four Premier League matches, where David Luiz and Sokratis have generally been the preferred central defensive pairing.

The experienced duo are bound to keep their places for the away trip to Watford following the international break, but Holding could make the push for a starting spot in the league, should he impress in the Cup games scheduled this month.
