Some Arsenal supporters have praised the performance of midfielder Matteo Guendouzi during the Gunners’ sublime 3-2 comeback triumph over Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman did not have the best of games against Watford on the road last weekend and that trend continued during the first half of Sunday’s game where he was partly responsible for failing to track the run of John McGinn, who opened the scoring for the Villains.

The north London giants thereafter went down to 10 men after Ainsley Maitland-Niles was sent off prior to the break but they managed to come up with a strong second-half display to secure maximum points from the league contest.

Guendouzi was responsible for creating the equaliser at 1-0 after a wonderful mazy run which earned him a penalty and towards the end of the game, he picked up Calum Chambers with a sublime pass before the right-back scored with a lovely poacher’s finish.

Besides this, the Frenchman orchestrated the play with an urge to drive with the ball forward in the second half and a section of the fans have appreciated the midfielder’s efforts on social media. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter…

Guendouzi has been a guaranteed starter in the Premier League this season and he has certainly proved his worth with a couple of standout performances against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

The Frenchman still has the tendency to fade out of particular games but overall, he has earned the support of the majority of the faithful after taking it upon himself to make the difference.
