‘A different class’ – Glenn Hoddle praises Arsenal star ahead of Manchester United clash
|Former Premier League star Glenn Hoddle has heaped praise on striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League meeting against Manchester United on Monday night.
The Gabon international has been a revelation for the Gunners since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and he has already amassed close to 50 goals for the club across all competitions.
He has started the current campaign on a bright note with seven goals from seven appearances and Hoddle has said that Aubameyang is different class from the rest and would walk into any team.
“This fella [Aubamayang] is different class,” he told Premier League Productions, as quoted by The Mirror. “How many of those players at United would get into any other team in Europe? I’m not so sure. Paul Pogba at his very best maybe but anyone else I’m not sure. Harry Maguire, possibly. Aubameyang would walk into any team. Any team!”
With Alexandre Lacazette still on the sidelines, Aubameyang is set to lead the line for the Gunners at Old Trafford on Monday night and his performance could be key to ending the dreadful run at the stadium.
The north London giants have not won a league game at United’s home ground since 2006 and they have managed just one win through the FA Cup (2014) during the past 13 years.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Pepe is overdue a standout performance in the Gunners shirt after going through a settling period, where he has been afforded with a string of starts in the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international has impressed with his movement, link-up play and take-on ability, but he has yet to find the cutting edge in the final third in terms of his shooting ability.
