A selection of Arsenal supporters have praised the performance of goalkeeper Bernd Leno during the club’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester United on Monday night.
The Germany international has failed to keep a clean sheet in the top-flight since the opening day of the season and that trend continued at Old Trafford as he was on the wrong end of a stunning long-range strike from Scott McTominay before the break.
The Gunners managed to make a comeback through a VAR-assisted goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the second half, but Leno had a top game between the sticks as he absorbed the pressure from the Red Devils during the final quarter of the game.
Leno made an impressive save from a long-range strike from Harry Maguire but his key contribution came in stoppage time as he denied Marcus Rashford the winner from a free-kick with a strong block with his left palm.
Shortly after the game, a section of the Gunners faithful hailed the showing of the 27-year-old, who was crucial towards the club coming up with a point away from home.
The Gunners defence has looked vulnerable during the early stages of the current campaign and Leno has been kept busy in goal with more number of saves (32) than any another goalkeeper in the Premier League.
That statistic does not make for good reading in the long term but for now, the shot-stopper has been efficient and his display has helped the club propel into the fourth spot after seven games into the season.
