‘Our saviour’, some Arsenal fans praise forward’s performance vs Manchester United

A section of the Arsenal fans have heaped praise on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored the equalising goal during the 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester United on Monday night.

The Gunners lined up defensively against the Red Devils but they nearly scored the opening goal through Bukayo Saka, whose effort was impressively saved by David de Gea.

However, it was United, who took the lead before the break with a sublime long-range strike from Scott McTominay but the advantage did not last long following the interval.

Unai Emery’s side started as the better team in the second period and they eventually bagged the equaliser through Aubameyang, whose goal was rewarded through the VAR after the linesman flagged for offside.

Shortly after, Saka failed to take advantage of a wonderful chance within sight of goal and that pretty much summed up the night where the Gunners were average in the final third of the pitch.

Following the game, a section of the fans appreciated the strike from Aubameyang with some indicating that the Gabon international has been keeping manager Unai Emery in the job.

Aubameyang’s delightful finish against United handed him with his seventh goal of the Premier League campaign from as many appearances, and he has certainly been carrying the team with little contribution from Nicolas Pepe.

The stalemate at Old Trafford meant that the Gunners could not end their 13-year winless league streak at the stadium but there are positives from the fact that the result has propelled the club to the fourth position in the standings ahead of West Ham United on goals scored.
