Martinelli and Tierney start, Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1) to face Standard Liege
|Arsenal are at the Emirates Stadium for the Europa League group stage clash against Standard Liege on Thursday night.
The Gunners played out a hard-fought 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester United earlier on Monday and it won’t come as a surprise, if Emery changes the entire starting XI from that game.
Team News:
Alexandre Lacazette is unlikely to make the game as he has just returned to individual training following a rehabilitation period for a minor ankle problem. Emile Smith Rowe is unavailable following his head injury last week while Dinos Mavropanos is likewise expected to miss the game after featuring for the Arsenal Under 21s on Tuesday night.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Lineup:
Emiliano Martinez has been the preferred choice for Emery in the League Cup and Europa League games this term. The Argentine is expected to feature ahead of Bernd Leno in goal.
The defence should be quite similar to the League Cup third round tie against Nottingham Forest last month. Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi should take up the central defensive positions with Kieran Tierney at left-back.
Hector Bellerin’s involvement from the starting lineup remains a question mark but we are fancying him to do so with the possibility of being replaced towards the backend of the game. The Spaniard will slot into the right side of the backline.
In the centre of the park, Dani Ceballos should take up one of the positions after his lively cameo role at Old Trafford. The Spaniard could be accompanied by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who may get the chance to impress from his natural position for once.
Further forward, Joe Willock could slot into the advanced midfield role with Mesut Ozil and Reiss Nelson flanking him. Martinelli is likely to lead the line after an impressive League Cup debut last week, where he bagged his first two goals for the club.
