‘Do it and become a legend’, some Arsenal fans want in-form star to sign new contract

A section of the Arsenal supporters have urged the club to extend the contract of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has flourished during the opening stages of the campaign.

The Gabon international has been in impressive form since the beginning of the season and he has already contributed eight goals across all competitions with seven of those coming in the Premier League.

Aubameyang’s current deal with the club expires in the summer of 2021 but the club appear to have opened negotiations regarding a new four-year contract, as per Gazzetta dello Sport‘s Nicolo Schira.

The response to the contract update has been largely positive from the Gunners fans and some of them have taken to Twitter to express their views on the player’s future.

Twitter Reactions:

Aubameyang has already surpassed his 30th birthday but he has shown no signs of slowing down and has come up with a number of match-winning performances already this term.

As such, it is a no-brainer to commit him for another four years and the extension should suit the striker himself, given he would spend the prime phase of his career with the club.

Aubameyang, who was recently named the Premier League‘s Player of the Month for September, has regularly played in the centre-forward role this term with Alexandre Lacazette struggling with an ankle problem.

Lacazette is due to return at some time after the current international break but Aubameyang should continue leading the line until the former can find his match sharpness.
