Some Arsenal fans have put the blame on manager Unai Emery for the team’s average performance during the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Sheffield United on Monday night.
The Gunners had the opportunity to jump into the third spot in the Premier League with a victory over the Blades but they made an uncertain start with the hosts piling on the early pressure.
Chris Wilder’s men eventually scored from a corner through Lys Mousset in the 30th minute and that was sufficient to seal the victory for them after a resolute defensive display after the break.
The Gunners were pretty much wasteful in the final third barring the one clear-cut chance for Nicolas Pepe, who should have the opened the scoring on the night.
Following the game, a number of the club’s faithful were unimpressed with the showing and some of them criticised Emery’s decision to drop Mesut Ozil from the matchday squad for the fourth game on the bounce.
Arsenal’s away record has remained a prime concern over the past couple of seasons and the trend has continued this term with just one victory from five Premier League games on the road.
Ozil has certainly not played to the best of his abilities over the past year or so but the German nonetheless provides the club with a creative outlet, which has been missing at certain stages of the current campaign.
The north London giants remain fifth in the Premier League after the result but most notably, they are now trailing by a couple of points in the race for the Champions League places.
