Aubameyang sends message to Arsenal fans after Southampton draw

Arsenal club-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has acknowledged that the players are disappointed following the recent 2-2 Premier League draw against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.

The north London giants have remained winless since the backend of October and the run continued against the Saints, who were the better side as the game progressed.

The Gunners were able to salvage a point from the encounter after a last-gasp equaliser through Alexandre Lacazette but overall, the performance was far from impressive with the Saints afforded with ample of space to counter-attack at every opportunity.

The south Coast outfit were presented with multiple clear-cut chances on goal during the final third of the game and the Gunners could have quite easily been on the wrong end of a heavy defeat at home.

Speaking after the stalemate, Aubameyang refused to comment on the criticism from the club’s faithful but stated that the players are equally disappointed as the supporters.

He added that the team has the quality to make a comeback and will keep fighting despite the recent winless streak which has now extended to six games across all competitions.

“I don’t know [if the criticism is fair at the moment], but the team is disappointed like the fans are as well. When we are playing, we are the first to be disappointed when it doesn’t work. We will try to keep fighting. I think we have the quality to come back and we have to fight,” he said.

Arsenal’s next game will come up against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday and hopefully, they can end the winless run and provide some positivity ahead of the league trip to Norwich City next weekend.
