Arsenal have the opportunity to end a seven-match winless streak when they face Norwich City in Sunday’s Premier League meeting at Carrow Road.
The Gunners recently succumbed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League and that sealed the fate of manager Unai Emery, who was dismissed from his role.
The north London giants are now under the temporary charge of Freddie Ljungberg and the Swede will no doubt make a few changes with the view to ending the club’s worst-ever run of results since 1992.
Bernd Leno has been the undisputed pick for the goalkeeping duties in the Premier League and he has certainly been kept busy with 53 saves from just 13 games. The German has been faultless with his displays in recent months and he is definitely guaranteed his place between the sticks.
In the defence, Ljungberg may revert to the traditional four-man backline. At right-back, Calum Chambers could get the nod with Hector Bellerin deemed a doubt with a tight hamstring.
At the heart of the backline, David Luiz and Sokratis have been the regular picks but the former may not be risked after sustaining a bruised rib against Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek.
Hence, we are anticipating Rob Holding to make only his second league appearance of the season. At left-back, Kieran Tierney remains the best pick regardless of Sead Kolasinac’s return after a minor hamstring concern.
In the centre of the park, Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi could continue to take up their positions and that would mean Granit Xhaka settling for a bench role.
Further forward, the fans may witness Mesut Ozil, Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette start for the first time together in any competition.
Under Emery, it was the case of one of the quartet missing out on a starting spot but Ljungberg will surely consider the opportunity to unleash the players together at Carrow Road.
