‘Deserves to start’, some Arsenal fans urge Ljungberg to start emerging star vs Brighton & Hove Albion
|Arsenal are scheduled to host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Thursday night and some of the supporters believe Gabriel Martinelli deserves to start the game.
The Gunners are currently on an eight-match winless streak across all competitions and this includes five Premier League games where they have picked up just four points.
As a result, they have dropped 10 points behind the top four places with a game in hand but interim boss Freddie Ljungberg will be hoping that the players can end the wretched run against the Seagulls.
Ahead of that game, a selection of Gunners fans have urged Ljungberg to consider handing Martinelli with his maiden league start and some believe he should replace Alexandre Lacazette upfront.
Here are the tweets….
Martinelli, who can play in different positions across the attack, has bagged seven goals from 12 appearances for the Gunners in his debut campaign, but all of his contributions have come in the Cup competitions.
Still, many fans have been impressed with his strong finishing skills with both his head and feet while he has the confidence to run directly at the opposition defence with his impressive dribbling ability.
Ljungberg has already shown that he won’t be shy from making shrewd decisions as Nicolas Pepe was left on the bench against Norwich last weekend and it remains to be seen whether Martinelli gets the nod for the starting XI tomorrow.
