‘Has to start every game’, ‘very good’, some Arsenal fans hail 24-year-old’s display after Everton draw

Some Arsenal fans have appreciated the performance of defender Calum Chambers following the club’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The England international has started at centre-back for the Gunners in the past three games and he has managed in a couple of matches against West Ham United and Everton.

Against the Toffees, the Gunners struggled to pose a regular threat on goal and it was another frustrating day as they went goalless for the second match on the bounce.

Still, there was plenty of work to do on the defensive point of view to keep a rare clean sheet and Chambers was the standout performer at the back as he dominated the aerial battle against Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun.

As per whoscored, the 24-year-old managed to win seven of his eight aerial duels, which was the most for any player on the day. He also impressed with three tackles with a 100 percent success rate.

His overall defensive display has hence impressed a section of the fans.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter….

Chambers unfortunately picked up a booking during the closing stages of the Toffees clash and that will see him serve one-match suspension after reaching the five yellow card limit before the 19th gameweek of the league campaign.

David Luiz had a commendable performance on his return to the starting XI. The Brazilian is likely to be accompanied by Sokratis, who will be returning from a one-game suspension, ahead of Mikel Arteta’s first game in charge against Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
