Mikel Arteta confirms double injury concern for Arsenal ahead of Sheffield United clash
|Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raised doubts over the involvement of Lucas Torreira and Sead Kolasinac ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium.
Kolasinac has been in-and-out of the team this season due to injuries and he is now said to be struggling with a thigh strain which could see him sidelined for the clash against Chris Wilder’s side.
Speaking in a press conference, Arteta told: “The doctors are assessing [Sead] still – he had a normal session yesterday. He’s been in some discomfort, we know this season that he had some little niggles, so we have to assess him and see if we can get him fit for Saturday or he will be out.”
Meanwhile, the Spaniard added that Lucas Torreira remains another first-team regular, who could possibly miss out on the Blades clash as he is not 100 percent fit after the hip problem picked up during the first half of the Premier League match at Crystal Palace last weekend.
“It is something related to his hip, producing some pain in the muscle. I don’t know. He trained yesterday as well, but still not 100 per cent confident so we will have to wait and see again,” he added.
Aside from the duo, Arteta also updated on the fitness of Daniel Ceballos and Hector Bellerin, who have returned to training after recovering from their respective hamstring troubles.
Ceballos has been named in the matchday squad in the past few games without making an appearance but Arteta has indicated that the midfielder is now ready to feature for the club.
Bellerin, on the other hand, may have to wait longer for his reintroduction to the playing field with Arteta suggesting that he needs a few more training sessions under his belt.
Arsenal go into Saturday’s game with the opportunity to go unbeaten for a fourth-straight game in all competitions. Arteta will definitely want to pick up the three points to build up momentum ahead of the crunch London derby at Chelsea in midweek.
