‘Gonna be a superstar’, Aubameyang praises Arsenal ace after recent league display

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has heaped praise on the recent display of Gabriel Martinelli against Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The Brazilian made his first start after his injury comeback on the left wing owing to Aubameyang’s three-match domestic suspension for his red card at Crystal Palace.

Martinelli was not overly impressive as he managed only nine successful passes through the entire 90 minutes but he still maintained a high workrate as usual with his tendency to close down the opposition players.

The teenager was rewarded for his efforts with the Gunners’ only goal in the 1-1 draw and following the game, Aubameyang appreciated the attitude and energy displayed by the attacker more than the goal scored.

Here’s what Aubameyang posted on his official Twitter account…

Martinelli has contributed nine goals and two assists in his debut season with the club and that is certainly an impressive statistic, considering he was playing in the Brazilian fourth tier with Ituano last year.

He is likely to start in the left-wing position in the midweek league clash at Chelsea following his goal, and due to the fact that Mikel Arteta won’t have the services of Reiss Nelson following a hamstring injury.

Arsenal can reduce the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to just seven points with a win on Tuesday. Lacazette surely needs to find his scoring boots, having managed zero goals and just one shot on target in the past five league starts.
