‘Absolutely brilliant’, these Arsenal fans are delighted with 24-year-old’s display vs Chelsea

Some Arsenal fans have reacted positively to Hector Bellerin’s impressive return to first-team action against Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday.

The Spain international had not played a single minute of football under manager Mikel Arteta due to his recent hamstring concerns and it was somewhat a surprise when he was chosen to start ahead of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

However, he was able to produce a good performance in the hard-fought 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge where the Gunners played through more than an hour with 10 men after David Luiz’s sending off.

Bellerin was able to curb the threat from the likes of Willian and Emerson for most of the game and he was successful with two tackles, two interceptions and two clearances (whoscored) while mostly operating in his own half.

Ultimately, he went on to help the Gunners equalise for the second time in the derby with a left-footed curling effort in the 87th minute which went beyond the reach of Kepa Arrizabalaga into the bottom-left corner.

Prior to the game, there were doubts how Bellerin would respond after recovering from a hamstring injury setback but he managed to produce a strong display with the captain’s armband in Aubameyang’s absence.

Here are some of the reactions towards his display…

Arsenal showed terrific attitude and mentality to salvage a point with 10 men and there is certainly the tactical awareness under Arteta, which was not visible with ex-boss Unai Emery at the helm.

In the past, the Gunners could have quite easily conceded the second goal which would have ended their comeback prospects but there is now a game plan in place to tackle different situations.
