A selection of Arsenal supporters have reacted positively towards the anticipated signing of defender Pablo Mari Villar from Flamengo this month.
The 26-year-old was confirmed to have arrived in the English capital for a medical with the Gunners on Saturday and it is only a matter of time before he is officially announced as a player of the club.
Amidst this, there has been a positive reaction from a section of the Gunners faithful for Mari, who is on course to become the club’s first signing of the winter transfer window.
Obviously, many fans would not have watched the centre-back in action previously but there is the optimism that the Spaniard will prove a quality purchase for the Gunners.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter…
Mari did not feature for Flamengo after their participation in the Club World Cup last month and he would obviously require a few weeks of training under his belt before getting into contention for a first-team role under Mikel Arteta.
The mid-season break has definitely come at the right time for the former Manchester City man and it remains to be seen whether he can impress Arteta sufficiently in training such that he can make the push for a starting spot.
Arsenal are scheduled to face Bournemouth away from home in Monday’s FA Cup fourth round tie. The Gunners have managed just one win from the previous four trips to the Vitality Stadium but Arteta will be hoping for a victory on the back of an impressive 2-2 league draw at Chelsea with 10 men.
