‘Vital player’, ‘Great display’, some Arsenal fans praise forward’s performance vs Newcastle United

A section of the Arsenal supporters have expressed their delight following a sublime all-round performance from Nicolas Pepe against Newcastle United.

The Ivorian has endured a mixed debut season with the Gunners and he was recently an unused substitute in the 0-0 Premier League draw at Burnley.

Still, he was handed with a starting spot to face the Magpies on Sunday and the 24-year-old produced a superb second-half display where he provided two assists and bagged a goal in a 4-0 win.

Meanwhile, he also produced an effective performance in the defensive point of view and managed to make one interception, two tackles and won a couple of aerial duels, as per whoscored.

As such, he definitely had his best game in the Gunners shirt and that has impressed some of the fans, who have taken to Twitter to heap praise on the club’s record signing.

There’s so much technical quality with Pepe. The game experience isn’t quite there yet in England but when it works out for him he’s something else. If I were Arteta I’d really enjoy working on getting the best out of him.

Pepe has made a perfect start following the winter break and manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that the winger can find the consistency in his game which has been missing in his debut season with the club.

Arsenal’s next game will come against Olympiacos in the first leg of the round of 32 stage of the Europa League. The Gunners will face the Greek outfit at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Thursday night.
