The best Arsenal wonderkids to watch for next season

Arsenal may be out of Europe but Mikel Arteta’s appointment earlier this season the focus was very much on building for the future. And where else to look at but at the next crop of youngsters coming through Arsenal’s youth teams, and of course, that world-renowned scouting tool, Football Manager.

Football Manager is well known for predicting the development of wonderkids and used by several professional football clubs to scout out talent. A worldwide fanbase use FM to form opinions and gain knowledge on the unknown talent and ‘hidden gems’ within their club.

Today we look at which Arsenal players Football Manager 2020 rates highest using FM Stories’ best FM20 wonderkids shortlist. We’ll also share which tactical system they are best used in.

Matteo Guendouzi – 21 years old – 165 potential rating

The complete midfielder Guendouzi can tackle, pick a pass and bring the ball forward. With great vision, passing and technique it’s a surprise to see such high work rate and tackling ability. With a fixed PA rating of 165 Guendouzi is a guaranteed world class talent in any save. The Frenchman developed amazing attributes in our test save as Real Madrid paid £63 million for his services

Reiss Nelson – 19 years old – 160 potential rating

Fast and skilful Nelson possess’ great end product making him the ideal wide man for a variety of roles. If our test save is anything to go by Nelson could be an exceptional talent for the future and one of few well rounded wide men. Reiss did the unthinkable moving to Spurs in our save but it was indirectly after a brief spell at Wolves amassing transfer fees in excess of £100 million.

Eddie Nketieh – 20 years old – 140-170 potential rating

Moving forward we have the man on loan with Leeds, Eddie Nketieh. Blessed with raw speed and agility, improvement in his balance could unleash Werner(esque) ability. Eddie is hard working and uses the space well to open up gaps in the opposition defence. He developed into a clinical forward in our test save scoring more than a goal every other game until 2026!

Joe Willock – 19 years old – 153 potential rating

An attacking minded, central midfielder Willock has great technique, touch, dribbling and passing ability in FM 2020. With exceptional acceleration, agility and pace the word rapid does him no justice. Yet another mobile forward-thinking player which brings us to the best tactic to use with Arsenal.

Best tactic to use with Arsenal in FM 2020

Arsenal have attacking wing backs, fast strikers, skilful wingers and well-rounded central midfielders so an attacking, pressing 4-4-2 should suit.

Duke Ryan’s 4-4-2 is the best Football Manager 2020 tactic I have tested and utilises a simple shape making integration simple. Built around attacking, high pressing Football you can expect dominant displays and total Football. As with any system Duke Ryan features many team and player specific instructions so you should download the tactic linked above, not try to replicate.
