A selection of Arsenal fans have hailed the performance of goalkeeper Bernd Leno during the club’s 1-0 triumph over West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Gunners had a difficult game against the Hammers where they were guilty of conceding chances, but they were able to register a clean sheet because of Leno and some poor finishing from the visitors.
Leno has stood out for the club with a number of top-notch displays in goal this season and against the Hammers, he came up with another solid performance as he made six saves in total, as per whoscored.
Out of those, he made a crucial one-handed save to deny Michail Antonio from scoring from close-range and that eventually contributed to the Gunners’ picking up three points after Alexandre Lacazette’s winner in the 78th minute.
Following the game, there was much appreciation for the German, who was adjudged as the man of the match by the majority of the club’s supporters. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter.
With the 2-0 win, the north London side were able to register a third-straight league victory. This is the first time it has happened in more than 12 months.
Up next, the Gunners have a testing challenge against Manchester City on the road in midweek. The club have not beaten the Cityzens in the league since 2015 and any point on Wednesday would surely provide a huge boost in their Champions League hunt.
