Arsenal planning summer move for 27-goal striker: report

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up an approach for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard as they seek to rebuild the squad for the 2020/21 season.

The Gunners have experienced another tough campaign in the Premier League and they have lied outside on the Champions League places for more than five months.

There has been an improvement in the league results under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, who took charge in December, but the club are still eight points adrift of the top four.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners boss is keen on reinforcing the forward department in the summer and Edouard has been earmarked as one of the prime targets.

It is added that the move won’t depend on the future of club-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose contract with the club expires at the end of next season.

Edouard has been hugely impressive for the Scottish champions since the move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and in the current season, he has contributed 27 goals and 19 assists from 45 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman would have a tougher task on his hands with a probable switch to the Premier League, but he appears a viable target for the Gunners with his £30m price tag.

Edouard is capable of playing across the attack, but he has largely featured as the centre-forward for the Hoops and has impressed with his quick pace to get behind the opposition defence.
