Arsenal teenager Gabriel Martinelli has revealed his ambition of winning multiple trophies with the club and becoming a ‘Gunners legend’ in the future.
The 18-year-old was a relatively unknown talent when he made the switch from Brazilian fourth tier side Ituano last summer and it was initially predicted that he could join the development side.
However, he managed to break into the first-team squad through an impressive pre-season tour of the United States and has since contributed a tally of 10 goals and two assists from 26 appearances.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, the youngster has now spoken about the ambition of winning numerous titles with the Gunners in order to please the club’s faithful.
He added that he wants to repay the trust placed on him by the backroom staff and hopefully, become a club legend on the basis of his performances in the long-term.
“I want to win the Champions League and lots of domestic titles to make Arsenal’s fans very happy. They deserve the best – not only the supporters but all of the club’s staff. I’d like to give back to the club after everything they’ve done for me so far and, as a result, become a Gunners legend,” he told.
Martinelli recently became the first Arsenal teenager since Nicolas Anelka in the 1998/99 season to score 10 goals for the club in a single campaign.
He has shown his quality when it comes to the finishing aspect of his game but there remains room for improvement with the forward distribution.
The Brazilian has the age on his side to become a top quality player for the club but he needs to remain patient and make the best use of the opportunities offered to him.
