Mesut Ozil reacts after Serge Gnabry is pictured training in an Arsenal shirt
|Arsenal attacker Mesut Ozil has provided his reaction on Twitter after Bayern Munich ace Serge Gnabry was spotted wearing the Gunners shirt earlier this week.
European football has reached a complete standstill with the ongoing outbreak of the COVID-19 virus but the players are still continuing their respective training regimes at their homes in order to stay fit when the campaign resumes.
Earlier this week, Bayern uploaded a video on their official Youtube account of a Cyber Training session with freestyler Sebastian. In that, Gnabry was spotted doing his exercises while wearing the Gunners away kit from the current campaign.
This has already excited a section of the Gunners fans and Ozil has now reacted to the same on Twitter. The former Germany international took a screenshot of the video of his compatriot and tagged him with the caption: ‘Once a Gunner – always a Gunner?’
Gnabry joined the Gunners youth system from Stuttgart in 2011 and he went on to make 18 appearances for the senior squad over the next two seasons after which he struggled with knee injury concerns.
Eventually, he made the permanent move to Werder Bremen in 2015 after a failed loan stint at West Bromwich Albion where he made just one appearance in the top-flight.
The 24-year-old has since made the switch to Bayern Munich where he has transformed into one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga following a solitary campaign on loan with Hoffenheim.
Gnabry is currently enjoying the best season of his professional career with 18 goals and 11 assists from just 33 appearances and he is now regarded as an undisputed starter for the Bavarian giants.
As per Transfermarkt, the German is valued at a staggering £81m and it is highly unlikely that the Gunners will make any attempt to re-sign him in the coming years.
