Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is understood to be assessing his options and could head through the exit door at the end of the season, Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims.
Sokratis was a regular starter at the heart of the Gunners defence during the first half of the season but he has not been able to command a similar role with Mikel Arteta taking charge of the club.
Of course, he has missed a few games through concussion and illness but he has still remained on the bench in a number of Premier League matches under Arteta.
According to Transfermarkt expect Schira, the Greece international is understood to be considering his options and could pursue a new challenge during the off-season.
Shkodran Mustafi and Pablo Mari shared the central defensive duties alongside David Luiz prior to the unexpected halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sokratis was handed a couple of starts between mid-February and the shutdown but both of them came from the right-back position while Hector Bellerin was nursing a minor groin problem.
The Greek will enter the final year of his contract in July this year and it appears likely that he could search for a new club, suppose he fails to receive the assurance of regular first-team football.
The 31-year-old has the chance of redeeming himself when the current campaign resumes but still, his prospects of staying on next season would surely depend on him putting pen-to-paper on a fresh deal.
