Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi is attracting the interest of Arsenal and Bayern Munich, according to reports in France.
The 23-year-old Swiss international has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s most talented defenders in recent months due to his technical ability and astute reading of the game.
Elvedi featured 24 times for Gladbach last season where he also played at full-back and has been likened to Manchester City defender John Stones by the official Bundesliga website.
“Nico has taken another step forward, he has a great positional play and rarely commits any fouls,” said former Gladbach coach Dieter Hecking.
He helped keep 12 clean sheets in 30 appearances and completed a league-high of 95.2 percent of his passes last season.
Arsenal have several emerging talents in defence with 19-year-old starlet William Saliba currently on loan at St Etienne and Dinos Mavropanos, 22, flourishing for FC Nurenberg in Bundesliga 2.
