Thomas Partey ‘wants Arsenal move’ and will ‘decide future in coming days’

There has been much speculation regarding Thomas Partey trading the Wanda Metropolitano for the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Atletico Madrid midfielder has played a key role for his club this season and is one of the most sought after central midfielders in world football today.

Lassana Camara, a reliable source on African football news who consults for the BBC and France24, has claimed today that Thomas Partey is willing to engage with Arsenal in a bid to further a transfer to the club.

FootballGhana, a Ghanian football editorial, has said today that according to a source close to Partey, the player will decide his future in the coming days and expects to be playing in England next season. The source goes on to say that Partey wants to play for Arsenal.

To make this transfer a reality, Arsenal will be tasked with stumping up Partey’s buyout clause of  £45m (€50 million). This will be challenging for the Gunners especially because of football’s current financial climate. One alternative possibility that has been discussed in the media is the possibility of Alexander Lacazette being swapped for Thomas Partey. It is difficult to predict whether this will happen but it represents a solution that both clubs will weigh up at the very least if a straight cash deal is not on the table.

Truth be told, this transfer is still some ways off from becoming a reality. What cannot be denied is the fact that this story refuses to go away and honestly seems to be ramping up. This is music to the ears of Arsenal fans.

Raul Sanllehi pulled a few tricks out of the bag last summer. He and Edu Gaspar will need to be even more creative this summer to come out on top in the recruitment department in order to provide Mikel Arteta with a squad truly capable of achieving the goal of qualification for the Champions League. The signing of Thomas Partey will give Arsenal fans the opportunity to start dreaming again.
