Arsenal to take on Brentford in friendly at Emirates today

Arsenal are all set to play their second friendly in the buildup to their Premier League restart against Brentford today at 3pm at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are one week away from their first Premier League game against Manchester City at the Etihad. They beat Charlton Athletic 6-0 in their first friendly on June 6th and will be hoping to keep the momentum going with another win against Brentford.

Most importantly though, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will look to give members of his squad more game time to improve their match fitness. This is expected to be Arsenal’s final friendly before their game against the champions on June 17th.

Arteta’s side are currently 9th in the Premier League table but have a game in hand. They are 8 points behind fourth placed Chelsea and 5 points behind fifth placed Manchester United.

If Manchester City’s Champions League ban is upheld, the team that finishes fifth will get a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Arsenal will be looking to take full advantage of this opportunity and will be hoping to end what has been a challenging campaign on a strong note.
