VIDEO: Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu sets up opener in win for VfL Bochum

Jordi Osei-Tutu created VfL Bochum’s opening goal in their 2-0 victory over VfL Osnabrück in the German second division.

He received a pass from his teammate Robert Tesche, used his pace and physicality to run down the wing and get the better of the Osnabrück fullback before sending in a low cross that was put into the back of the net. Initially, the goal was given to Bochum striker Manuel Wintzheimer but was later adjudged to have been an own goal scored by Osnabrück’s Lukas Gugganig.

Osei-Tutu has been on loan at Bochum since the start of the 2019/20 season. It took him some time to earn his place in the team but ever since things began to click for him, he has had a number of impressive performances. The 21 year old’s pace down the right flank and strength make him a real threat on the attack. In his last 8 games for Bochum, he has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists. At times, he has played in a more advanced role to capitalise on his attacking strengths.

One week ago, Goal reported that Arteta was keen on adding a player to his squad that would provide competition to Hector Bellerin at right back. Max Aarons of Norwich was a player mentioned to be of interest. Cedric Soares, who is currently at the club on loan was also referred to as a potential solution. Jordi Osei-Tutu was another player that was speculated to be in the running. If he continues to play as well as he has so far, he will certainly give Arteta and his staff something to think about for next season.
