Arteta confident about finalising FOUR contracts ahead of tonight’s deadline

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has said he is confident about finalising short-term deals for four of his players ahead of tonight’s deadline.

Premier League clubs have until midnight tonight to finalise short-term extensions for players whose contracts expire at the end of June.

Arsenal quartet Cedric Soares, Dani Ceballos, David Luiz and Pablo Mari fall into this category and will be forced to leave the club next week unless agreements can be made.

According to various reports, the club have a variety of deals to finish ahead of tonight’s deadline. Charles Watts claims Arsenal will look to sign Cedric and Mari on permanent deals.

Elsewhere, the club is racing to extend Ceballos’ loan deal while also extending Luiz’s contract. Regarding the latter, it’s unclear on how long this extension could be.

Talking to the media ahead of the Gunners clash versus Southampton, Arteta said he is optimistic about finishing these deals.

“It’s very complicated with the timing of it and some of the legal issues that are involved with that,” he said. “The club is trying to finalise everything in the next few hours and we have no choice, we have to do it and even more with all the injuries we’ve had. We are trying to resolve this.”

“I’m confident that we can do it. I hope so.”
