Arsenal target Orkun Kokcu signs new five year deal with Feyenoord

Orkun Kokcu, a player heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, has signed a five year contract with Feyenoord to extend his stay at the Dutch club.

Arsenal are understood to have held talks with Feyenoord prior to the coronavirus to discuss a move for the Turkish midfielder. He has been touted as a potential successor to Mesut Ozil and has been receiving rave reviews for his performances in the Eredevisie. Talks between the two clubs were not followed up on as a result of the pandemic but it was reported that Kokcu still featured on the North London club’s list of transfer targets for the summer.

Kokcu joined Feyenoord’s academy in 2014 and made his first team debut for the club three years later at the age of 17. His first appearance in the Eredevisie came in 2018 and he bagged a goal and an assist in that game. This season has seen him establish his place in the first team. He has scored two goals and provided four assists in 22 games in the league.

Confirmation that the 19 year old has chosen to commit his future to Feyenoord brings an end to speculation about a possible summer move to the Emirates.
