Highly-rated forward Folarin Balogun set to leave Arsenal this summer

Folarin Balogun has decided to leave Arsenal this summer according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. The rising star is a product of the club’s academy and has received rave reviews from many at the club including Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The 18 year old striker has one year remaining on his contract and has so far failed to agree a new deal with the Gunners. Arsenal will look to sell Balogun this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

The North London club have a fleet of academy graduates who are competing for places in the team’s attack. Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock have been given an abundance of chances to secure a spot in the first team this season. All three of these players have been hugely impressive and look set to be a part of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s long term plans.

It is understandable that Balogun is looking for a move away from the club as he fears he will not get his chance in the first team due to the number of promising players competing for a limited number of spots.

Arsenal are believed to have rejected a £5 million offer from Brentford for the young striker in January. Many of the European giants are also said to be interested in Balogun’s signature.

The Gunners have let Serge Gnabry, Donyell Malen, Ismael Bennacer and Jeff Reine-Adelaide depart the club in the recent past. All four players have gone on to impress and Arsenal fans will be hoping the club is not making a similar mistake with Balogun.
