Cedric Soares available for tomorrow’s clash against Norwich City

Cedric Soares is ‘available for selection’ ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match against Norwich City which will take place tomorrow according to Arsenal’s medical team.
The Portuguese full back signed for Arsenal on loan from Southampton in January. His contract with the Saints was due to expire in the summer and many saw his six month loan spell with the Gunners as a trial for a permanent deal.

The 28 year old has unfortunately not made an appearance for the Gunners yet. He was injured when he signed for the club and suffered a setback during his recovery. Due to the pandemic, English football was suspended and this further delayed his debut for Arsenal. Prior to the resumption of the Premier League, Soares suffered a facial injury in training which has kept him on the sidelines so far.
His contract with Arsenal was set to expire today and there were genuine fears that he would leave the club without having played a single minute of football. In a drastic move, the Gunners agreed a four year contract with Cedric last week. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is said to be impressed with his attitude and influence in the dressing room.
The player has finally shaken off his injury troubles and will be in contention for a place in the squad tomorrow. Mesut Ozil, David Luiz and Lucas Torreira are being assessed ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Norwich City at the Emirates. Luiz has an issue with his right knee and Ozil is suffering from back soreness.
