Arsenal to announce Saka contract extension this week as Partey interest heightens

Arsenal are set to announce that they have agreed a new long term contract with Bukayo Saka later this week and are intensifying their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic

The Gunners are applying the finishing touches to Saka’s new contract and all parties have agreed to the extension. The 18 year old has one year remaining on his deal and there were fears he would leave Arsenal. Gooners will be thrilled to hear that he will stay at the club for many years to come.

Bukayo Saka is an Arsenal academy graduate and has enjoyed a breakthrough season this year. The player has scored three goals and provided ten assists in 33 games across all competitions for the North London club in the current campaign. He has provided more assists than any other Arsenal player this season.

The left footed wide player made his debut for the Gunners in 2018 and has made unbelievable progress since then. He has been one of Arsenal’s players of the season in what has been a difficult campaign for the club and is one of the most exciting young players in the world. He has displayed a great deal of versatility that has seen him play on the wing, at left back and in left central midfield on various occasions.

Thomas Partey has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months and the club have reportedly intensified their interest in the player. The Ghanaian midfielder has a £45 million release clause but the Gunners are hoping to negotiate a lower fee. Partey is thought to be keen on a move to the North London side. He has been an ever present in the Atletico Madrid midfield this year and played the full match in his team’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.
