Arsenal has confirmed that Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new long-term contract with the north London club.
The news comes just over 48 hours after the club announced that teenager Bukayo Saka had also signed a new deal with the club.
Martinelli joined the Gunners last summer from Brazillian side Ituano for a fee believed to be around £6 million and enjoyed a very successful debut season with the club.
In all competitions, the 19-year-old scored 10 goals, becoming the first teenager to reach double digits in a single season since Nicolas Anelka. Also, the Brazillian provided a further four assists.
According to many journalists, including the reliable Charles Watts, the contract is a four-year deal and also gives Arsenal the option to extend.
Speaking about the announcement, head coach Mikel Arteta said: “I am very happy that Gabi has signed a new contract with us. He is a very talented young player and he has impressed us with his performances, attitude and work-rate. We are looking forward to getting him back to full fitness and to watching his development at our club.”
Meanwhile, Martinelli posted the following on his Instagram following the announcement:
